Joaquin Anderson, Structured Solutions & Strategic Origination Manager, bp Trading & Shipping
Joaquin Anderson joined bp’s Structured Products group as a Director in August 2012. Since then his focus has been on the Financial Sponsor segment of the business; working with upstream E&P companies, private equity funds, commercial & middle market banks, hedge funds, and other alternative capital providers.
Upon graduating college in 2006, Mr. Anderson was hired by Cargill Inc. and held various roles within their Agricultural trading division in the Midwest United States. From there, Mr. Anderson took on a role in Houston with Cargill’s Energy Risk Management group to build origination efforts in the upstream E&P sector.
Mr. Anderson holds a degree in Business Administration from Southeast Missouri State University.
Matthew Brogdon, Sr. Managing Director & Co-Head – Energy Finance, Cantor Fitzgerald
Mr. Brogdon has over two decades of experience advising and managing oil and gas companies and assets. Prior to joining Cantor Fitzgerald he was a partner at Guggenheim, where he led development and deployment of the first securitized finance products for the energy industry, and raised over $4 billion of capital for his clients during 2019-2022. Prior to Guggenheim, Mr. Brogdon focused on energy M&A and senior energy coverage roles at Citigroup and Evercore Partners, and served in senior executive positions with two private E&P companies and a family office. During his career Mr. Brogdon has led or executed over $50 billion in energy M&A and financing transactions.
He began his career in engineering and management roles with ExxonMobil and Netherland Sewell & Associates, where he was a partner. Mr. Brogdon is a two-time recipient of the prestigious S&P Global Platts Deal of the Year award for his team’s work in Energy Securitization.
Ryan Dusek, Director of Commodity Advisory and Valuation Services, Opportune LLP
Ryan is a Director at Opportune focusing on Commodity Advisory and Derivative Valuation. He has over twenty years of industry experience in commodity trading, risk management, supply chain optimization, and valuation. He has directly managed natural gas retail portfolios, traded both physical and financial commodities, as well developed and managed structure products for many of the energy majors. He is an expert in developing financial models to quantify complex/uncertain issues and deliver real world solutions.
Prior to Opportune, Ryan has held a variety of positions specific to energy trading. These roles include NextEra Energy: Director, Gas Structuring, Shell Energy: Portfolio Manager, Natural Gas Derivatives, Duke Energy: Risk Analytics & Trading, Enron: Contingent Derivative Pricing & Analytics Ryan holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from The University of Texas – San Antonio and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Texas State University.

Will’s practice focuses on commercial lending and financial transactions, primarily in the energy sector. He represents private equity funds, hedge funds and mezzanine funds, as well as corporate borrowers and investors, in connection with a wide variety of complex transactions, with a primary emphasis on: acquisition financings, first and second lien syndicated lending transactions with intercreditor relationships, structured financings with equity participations, complex restructurings, and financings and investments related to distressed entities.
Will holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, a Master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont.
