Oct 10, 2018 Texas Alliance of Energy Producers and Independent Petroleum Association of America Announce Joint Programs
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Texas Alliance of Energy Producers (Alliance) and the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) are pleased to announce their joint effort on two new projects for the benefit of the oil and gas industry.
The first project is the 2018 White Paper on water use in the energy industry. This study, Sustainable Produced Water Policy, Regulatory Framework and Management in the Texas Oil and Gas Industry: 2019 and Beyond, will be an update of a 2014 White Paper co-authored by John Tintera, President of the Alliance. The significant change in water use by the energy industry in the fracturing of oil and natural gas shales has led to more attention to how water is used and reused by the industry. This study will analyze the costs and benefits of water use and any environmental risks associated with this water use. It is planned that this study will be completed and released in the spring of 2019 and provide a reference for oil and natural gas industry, Legislators, State regulators and the public to determine the best plans for water use in the energy industry.
The second collaboration involves the Alliance Expo & Annual Meeting in Irving, Texas on April 2-3, 2019. With both the Alliance and IPAA membership invited to this industry wide program, it is expected to be one of the largest events that these organizations have hosted. Past Expo’s in Wichita Falls have had as many as 350 industry booths and up to 2,000 attendees. In addition to service industry representatives providing information on their products and services, attendees will be provided with educational programs that will cover legislative and regulatory updates from the biannual Texas Legislature. There will also be presentations on a number of new issues that the industry will be addressing.
“The Alliance continues our commitment to represent the oil and gas industry in Texas through education, outreach and advocacy, and is proud to work with the IPAA as we ensure that science, fact, and due process are the fundamental building blocks of the policy decisions that impact our members,” said John Tintera, Texas Alliance of Energy Producers President.
“IPAA is looking forward to working with the Texas Alliance on these two initiatives,” said Barry Russell, President and CEO of IPAA. “We hope the expo meeting in April will be an opportunity for ongoing interactions to the benefit of our members in Texas. The white paper on produced water will be an important component as the federal EPA looks at the possibility of future uses of treated produced water.”
